Artist’s Process:
Created entirely in Procreate on a 13″ iPad Pro M5 with an Apple Pencil Pro, through layered digital brushwork across skin, hair, textile, and botanical detail. White and silver hair required distinct rendering — warm and cool highlights with careful value management against light skin tones. The palm frond background was built with individual leaflet detail and layered depth. Dark green foliage contrasts with the couple’s lighter colors, directing attention to their faces. A diagonal line from lower left to upper right creates movement within the intimacy of the moment.
Challenge: White and silver hair on both subjects — rendering convincing white hair requires managing a near-absence of color while maintaining strand definition, volume, and the subtle warm and cool temperature shifts that prevent white hair from reading as flat or washed out.
