The air is crisp, the sky is clear blue, and the day has possibilities. A walk, a café, a hot cocoa with whipped cream — she’s already said yes to all of it. Her mohair sweater is doing its job, and that smile is doing the rest. Some days just feel like this, and this portrait captures exactly that feeling.
Artist’s Process:
Created entirely in Procreate on a 13” iPad Pro M5 with an Apple Pencil Pro, through layered digital brushwork building depth across skin, hair, and texture. The cool blue-lavender background reinforces the crisp outdoor atmosphere while warm skin tones and pink lips provide natural focal contrast. Fine flyaway hair strands were individually rendered to give the hair movement against the light background. The atmospherically impressionistic background evokes open air and complements the subject’s joyful expression.
Challenge: Mohair sweater — achieving the soft, diffused surface of mohair required layered base work followed by fine individual strand passes with a thin texture brush, creating the characteristic halo effect of the fiber without losing the sweater’s form.
