Artist’s Process:
Created entirely in Procreate on a 13″ iPad Pro M5 with an Apple Pencil Pro, through layered digital brushwork across skin, fabric, and fine detail. Baby portrait skin requires distinct technique — softer transitions, rounder highlight placement, and careful management of infant proportions. The hazel eyes were rendered with full iris color and prominent catchlight. The nursery wallpaper background establishes the subject’s world without competing with the face. The garment’s floral pattern was integrated using the Liquify feature to flow naturally with the fabric folds.
Challenge: The floral pattern on the garment — a separate pattern layer was created and warped using Procreate’s Liquify feature to follow the direction and curves of the fabric folds, integrating the design naturally into the garment rather than sitting as a flat overlay.
