ARTIST’S PROCESS:
Forever Starts Today was painted in Procreate on a 13″ iPad Pro using the Apple Pencil Pro. Each piece starts with a detailed sketch. Following the sketch color blocking to set the base color for each element of the painting on separate layers. The next step begins by adding the details through layered digital brushwork across skin, fabric, and decorative detail. The two-figure composition required careful value management — the bride’s white gown against the groom’s dark suit, unified under one light source. The gold date inscription is a signature element of every wedding commission, hand-lettered as a permanent part of the portrait. The botanical green background echoes the groom’s tie, and the gold frame border gives the piece its heirloom quality.
CHALLENGE:
The bride’s voluminous puff sleeves are sheer, with her arms visible beneath the fabric. Maintaining the sleeve’s dimensional form while preserving that transparency required watercolor-style washes on a layer above the arms, merged into the final painting with opacity adjustments to balance structure against see-through fabric.
